Hi,

actually, it doesn't matter where they are now...

more importantly, it depends on how well you sell...

my advice is to single out three areas (not vendors)
then check out
1. the traffic (you should hang around during a weekday and a weekend)
2. the people who shopped at the store (is it your target market?)
3. the other retailers within the same store

a lot of times, first-timers look at rent as the main factor,
in fact, it should be one of the last...
price should be about the same for boxes...
sometimes, it's worth it to pay just a bit extra for a good location

actually i went to all 3 venues already, but still cant make up my mind haha.. i thot suntec would be a good place, but not sure if people will stop and see. also, not sure if i'm correct, but from the inside of the store, it seems unable to access the boxes at the window display. for my handmade accessories, i guess customers prefer to feel them, try them on, before purchasing

Price is slightly cheaper at Suntec than RafflesCity. Personally, I prefer RafflesCity bcos of the nearest mrt and many offices. Remember to bargain if you intending to get one. :coffee:

Hi,
I've been following this thread and have noticed that there are a few more Box Space operator like InQBox and Cactus. Can anyone advise where to contact them? Currently, I've only know of such operator at Plaza Singapura.

Hi,

i'm looking into inqbox. they have it at suntec, raffles and parkway parade. Has anyone tried out their boxes there? Care to share the staffs, sales and rental for reference? Anything negative about them?

Thanks!

Re: "Box" Shop and Shelf Space -What's Your Views?

Its been some time since anyone replied to this thread. I just wanna share my experience as a 'consumer' with this concept shop and warn fellow forumers to take note of this point as well.

I myself had rented a shelf space just recently and what i can say is to also look out for the attitude of the owners in charge. Although it was just 1 mth(2 more to go before contract ends), I had a very bad experience with the owners of the shop.

Bad attitude to consumers(us who wants a space in the shop)
Bad customer service(can blow up a small dispute saying things like 'no happy can withdraw lah, but no refund of deposit', 'call lawyer lah', 'call police lah', etc... when it can be settled easily with a small goodwill from the company)

Above is examples of what happened to me because i was too hasty in signing the contract and did not notice the signs of a bad and problematic management. Thinking about it, half of the partners resigned as directors within 2 months of the shop's grand opening. How does this reflect on the shop's well being?

And ALSO, read through all the terms of the contract CAREFULLY. DO NOT read the contract after signing. In the event of a dispute, they can use the clause of the contract to their advantage. Especially so for unethical owners.

So for those of you who are thinking of getting a space, do watch out for this. Think about it, if they are already so bad to their customers(us) how good will you expect them to treat our customers?(those ppl who buys our product from the shop)

It actually pays off to get more information about the owners of the shop. Best is to check with those who have dealt with them before. Be extra carefully when dealing with newly opened concept shops as there is no proven track record and if sh*t happens, we will become the guinea pig that gets sacrificed.
