Default Newbie: How do you manage your pushcarts?

Ciao fellows,

I am inexperience and needed advice and experience sharing on above matter.

Specifically, i intend to merchandise some fashion products to sell in pushcart/s and hiring staffs to tend.

1) is hiring a problemo? what is the market rate (basic + commission)
2) staff management? Potential problem i will face
3) Pushcart operation - Am i suppose to collect earning and do stock inventory at the end of the day or my staff can do it? (experience sharing)

Thank you grazie.

Words in Red are just my personal opinion and I believe you will experience more when you are into it.

All the best & happy selling

My opinion: Initial stage, you will face hiccup here and there. Market rate is between $4.50 - 6.50 depending on experience. It is up to you to come out with a commission program. Calculate your cost precisely on your goods if you plan to give commission.

2) staff management? Potential problem i will face
My opinion: You may have staffs that are irresponsible, late or last minute never turn out to work, etc, you will find out more along the way. So you need to standby and be ready to take over if you are being play out.

3) Pushcart operation - Am i suppose to collect earning and do stock inventory at the end of the day or my staff can do it? (experience sharing)
My Opinon: Yes, collect the earning everyday and leave some enough for the next day as start up capital. Prepare a simple record book to make sure your staff write down everyday what is sold and the price. At least from the record you know what needed to be replenished. Do this consistently, especially for the earning unless you think the staff can be trusted, you may instruct him/her to transfer all the earning to your bank via internet banking. But no matter what, still practice random check

Additional opinion: train your staff to be watchful if you are operating a pushcart at a busy shopping center, there are lots of fake customers out there, very quick in dropping small little items into their side pocket (especially you are selling small items).

Thank you grazie.

If you observe, most of the people manning the Pushcart alone, they usually pack their food and eat at the pushcart, because it is not practical to open and close for lunch and dinner.

Train your staff to be friendly and get help from her neighbour if she needs to go toilet and when her neighbour needs help, she should do the same. At least watch one another store to make sure no one walk away with goods unpaid.

Otherwise it will be very troublesome that your staff have to close and open the cart when he/she goes toilet.

I strongly suggest, for the first time, you experience manning the Pushcart yourself and by then, all these nitty-gritty problem will be resolved with your creative brain.
