Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
I am keen to start my business venture and it has been my dreams to own a shop by myself. I had ordered some goods from my supplier already. Next step is I want to test out my goods with the market. So I thought so trying out Bazaars.
How do I go about registering the bazaars? What are the stardard procedures? i.e Deposit? Payment? Will appreciate any advise. Thank you. |
Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
where the goods coming from?
best wait for goods to arrive first before anything. sometimes they dun come at all. |
Re: Are you a "crafty" person?
Why u need to rent a shop which you dont have experience before? Try to sell online 1st :)

It is good to have a goal in life and doing something that you like as a living. I think you are quite right, trying out at bazaars and flea market are rather good ways to test out your goods in the market. You will have to register through an organizer, some organizers might require you to pay a refundable deposit, but usually the amount wouldn't be big as bazaar is only for short term rental. Payment wise you will certainly be required to pay in full before the event starts in order to secure your space. Regards |
Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
pasa malam is bazaar right? If it is i am trying to find a way to contact them, any ideas?

Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
Pasa malam is a bazaar but what exactly are you selling? Some things are not suitable to be sold at such places. Think carefully please.

Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
there are different types of bazaars.. got pasar malam / flea-market type (where people sometimes bargain like crazy) and more "atas" type (depends on location / organiser). where u choose to sell, would depend on how you want to "brand"/"price" your goods. also, rent can be quite hefty, so choose wisely :)

Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
hi,
I agree with EarthlyScents and pokerface, it really depends on what you are selling. I don't know any contacts of pasar malam, but I'm sure you could get the contact from some of the pasar malam stall holders. I ever worked in a pasar malam during my school days, sometimes the organizer might just be walking or idling around the pasar malam. Regards |

yes, wait for the goods to arrive first and check if everything in fine. take it step by step. there's no rush..everybody does have a dream and for me it's the same like yours..having a own shop. My first step was to sell on line which didn't work cos how many working mummies r so free to sit infront of the PC and shop? Frankly Singapore is a very convenient place to do shopping and if i hv the time i would rather take the excuses to go down town & shop. Next i move to those boxes and rented 4 boxes to try my things but again it doesn't work Dunno why so "SWAY". Next i tell myself i'm going to try pushcart and work myself there....So take things easy and step by step. there's alot of hardwork...:) |

Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
Start off with a online site first, registering with those blogspot/livejournal and such cost you nothing, all you need is to do plenty of uploading to the site and promote it to your target audience. Yes, is good to try out flea and bazzar, if your product range is suitable for pasar malem you can pm me,I have most contacts of them,my dad is a vendor selling fruits but be prepared to pay a bit of sum.one day or few days flea would be good, but with the right location too, I have been to some which easily give me hundreds in a few hours but there are some which gives you nothing at all..box rental is a good try out platform too,i myself is starting my 8 shelves unit at parco@millenia next week, and I am spending almost a month for preparation already things don't come easy.a good planning can take you a long way (; just some of my rants hopes it help (;

It may take sometimes to get traffic to your site. If you need traffic urgently, you may approach SEO company, but it is costly (It may range from 3-4 digits monthly for few keywords). |
Re: Any Advise to Newbie Like Me
Free sites such as blogspot/ livejournal you don't need to pay anything to use it. Or webs/webbly each have their own functions. Hmm upload means upload pictures, in online shopping we don't provide customer with actual products so a pictures tells a thousand words. So you gotta do a lot of uploading of your pictures to the site. I have not seen any site that sells without pictures. Haha, downloading may be in terms of editing tools. Or what ever you need, shopping cart or what.
