A word of advise. Do not trust people easily. Never believe in sending money to someone you don't know.

Another thing. On the sample orders, usually if they really want to cheat on you, the sample orders are 100% great! But once you give them the money, your goods either never reach you, or they send you bad quality or of a different material.

I was never cheated before but these are the true encounters I heard.

So think twice and make sure you never fall into their traps.

I actually sourced thru alibaba and made a personal trip myself to the country i wish to import my goods from.

As to the payment, TT (telegraphic transfer) is usually avaialble in Bank of China as they have FX rates for that day. Go grab a TT form at the Bank to see the relevant details.

As to using western union, u can do remittance from most singpost branches. check out the url : http://www.westernunion.com/info/selectCountry.asp

hi, u just have to source for the wholesales market from the country u wanna purchase stock from, fly over there to make the actual purchase, send back by; either u hand carry, or dhl as dhl have parcel boxes can store ard 10kg to 25 kg of gds and the charges is lower and no worry of loss parcel, or freight agent... but it expensive if u only buy a small qty. please noted, above S$400 worth of goods, u will be charge by custom for GST.

I'm intending to start a small business selling women's clothing. Anyone can suggest a good source for this?

Is it better to purchase from local or overseas eg. taiwan or hongkong? If purchase from local source, I will be able to see the quality. But, will the cost be much higher than purchasing from overseas?

Actually, am looking for other stuffs like: cash register, fixtures and space.

most ppl go overseas themself to buy. cause if you can buy in sg, so can others. if you're not buying alot, then you dun really have a worry. fly over, buy, hand carry it back. thats what budget airlines and carriers like dpex, dhl is for. if yu're doing clothings, even better, no breakage..

I work with an agent in china to import my shoes... safer... they help me do some stock checks and make payment for me before sending to me. So I don't have to worry about unethical people taking my money after i TT them. I just pay the agent.

I've helped some friends bring stuff back in my container before but the agent will charge a fee depending on the qty and storage space required.

China got a lot of gifts and crafts you can source you goods in Alibaba.com.Some manufacturers have website selling small quantity and look for gold supplier and had been listing in Alibaba for several years.If any thing go wrong just complain to Alibaba they will be blacklisted.I source all my goods from Alibaba and I that is a very good platform for retailer.

Register with Alibaba if you are a member whenever you ask a supplier question Alibaba will notify you if the supplier got complains before by buyer or not.

Some of the manufacturer do accept small quantity if you try to negotiate with them.China is the only source to get nice and cheap things and most of the suppliers that register in Alibaba can comunicate with you in English.
If you fly there your cost will be higher unless you buying one time 6 figure amount than is worth it.
