Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
With this news, we may have to change the name of this sub-forum.
:coffee: ________________________________________ 13 August 2008 1815 hrs (SST) 1015 hrs (GMT) SINGAPORE : Yahoo! Auctions is closing its Singapore site with effect from October 6. Yahoo! said it decided to do so after careful consideration. In June last year, the company shut its auction service in North America. In response to Channel NewsAsia's query, a spokesman for Yahoo! Southeast Asia said: "In examining where we allocated our resources, we realised we could provide more value to our customers through other properties and decided to close the Yahoo! Singapore Auctions site." According to Yahoo!, this latest action should not impact Yahoo! worldwide auctions businesses, including its auction websites in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The last day for Yahoo! Auctions Singapore users to list an item for sale is September 1, while the last day to bid on or buy an item on the site is September 21. - CNA /ls |
Re: Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
It's not surprising. If you look at both yahoo & ebay auction, they are quite empty.
For example: Out of 100 products listed, only 1-2 have a bid on it. |
Re: Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
i guess that depends on your product and pricing too.
so now.. other than ebay, any other similar auction sites for local sellers? |
Re: Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
I still think EBay is useful and more common.
It's luck... And you must have things that people want. |
Re: Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
but ebay need to pay rite?
|
Re: Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
Not really, you can choose free listing on ebay like no fancy border, only 3 pictures in maximum, only list 7 days or less and no picture view on main listing, etc....
Not easy to sell online in Singapore! |
Re: Yahoo! Auctions to Close Singapore Site on Oct 6
Yeah...EBay is free actually...
Unless you want some fanciful things like borders, highlights, bolding text, etc.. But a maximum of 3 pics per listing.. After that, there'll be a charge. I've been selling on EBay for quite a while now.. And I've been doing great.. Like I say, you must have things that people want. And don't be surprised if your "who would buy this" things can sell. :p |

Hi all, ya besides that also luck do plays a part. I do have overseas buyers who had bought things from me; email me to hunt for particular items for them. I also want to know too. By the way, are we in singapore allowed to post our items on other countries yahoo site and is it free? TYVM. |
