Singpost inefficient?
Hi, for those who are doing online bizness~ did u encounter this problem? I sell handmade jewelry, and lost 2 of my mails already~ thru normal mail by Singpost. The first one was sent in 21st May, til now, my customer hasnt recvd it, and the 2nd one was 21st Jun (coincidental huh?)~ I've already sent enquiries be it online or thru post office itself~ yet there's still no replies~
Is Singpost always like that? Juz very disappointed with their "non-svc"~ did u have this prob? Anyway to get the parcel back? (Though we've already written returned mail addy) |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
So far so good. In fact, I do find SingPost reliable and efficient esp for overseas shipment. If by normal mail, ensure that u are using proper envelope and for accessories best to use bubble-wrap because they tend to poke through the envelope easily. Include return address will be useful. I remembered one of my item was "lost" through normal mail (actually it was my fault because I wrote the wrong address) and thanks goodness, I managed to get it back because I included the return address. Perhaps u want to send by registered post next time or get customer to do pick-up. :juggle:

Re: Singpost inefficient?
Hi there.
I don't have any problems but I did once did not received my package. Anyway, did you put it in an envelope? It's best you put in an envelope which is quite of a standard 50c postage. Big envelope looks important rather than a tiny one. Or a coloured envelope, the brighter, the better. It never fails me. Even as it drops on the floor, someone bound to see it. Secondly write the postal code as clearly as possible. The machines in the Post Centre captures the postal codes and not the full address. Don't forget to write you return address behind. It's useless to e-mail them what happened to your mail. They have thousands of normal mails to sort out and looking for yours it's impossible. So you can kiss your packages goodbye. Hope this helps. |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
that's y i found it odd~ i always use standard C5 size envelope~ pays the correct amt of postage~and also included return address~ i pack my accessories in gift boxes instead of bubblewrap to ensure that they will not be squashed or dented, even worse, smashed to bits~ I've delivered over hundreds of mails before this~ this losing of mails only happened recently~ that's y i'm finding it odd~ and it's not only mine, i have a customer who is so afraid of losing her mails ever since hers was lost 2 mths back, 2 times in a mth!

Re: Singpost inefficient?
I had this experience before once.
And I used normal mail.. My envelope is big & very properly sealed & double sealed. With more than enough postage fee paid. I went to the branch & asked.. They told me to write in their enquiry form or so... Till now...(a few months already), still no reply.. But, I always warn buyers that there's a risk of losing mail through normal postage & that they are advised to use registered mail instead. They acknowledged & accepted that part. But for this case, I replaced the item with another one for free. |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
sigh~ yup, i did warn them abt losing mail part also~ for mine, the necklace cannot be replaced cos i cannot find the same materials for a remake anymore~ anyway, i was thinking, is it cos gst increase or smthg, that's y singpost purposely wants pp to use registered mail, that's y they anyhow juz deliver out mails~ wahhahah~

Re: Singpost inefficient?
I have got some items lost during the process of delivery twice too. In the same month, 1 after another.
For me, instead of emailing/ writing to them, I called their hotline instead. for both my encounters, the service staff are quite nice and they were prompt in getting back to me too. Once was when the destination post office returned call to tell me that there were no sighting of my mail and most likely it was misplaced/ wrong address/ customer who received claimed not to receive in order to get more stuff etc etc. But in general, the mail could not be retrieved, but at least they explained. For the 2nd time, my customer claim never receive too, but in the end, it was because the items were sent to her, but no one at home to receive it and a note was left there, but my customer insisted that she did not receive it.Hence, i followed up with Post Office and managed to get it as it was all along in the post office (due to undelivery as customer not at home) and no one had made a claim for it... SingPost processes huge tons of mail on a daily basis, and to get a 100% accuracy/ success delivery rate I think, would not be possible due to many reasons. the % of loss mail (which we are suay enuf to be part of it) I would believe, might not be as substantial as we thought. Anyway, different kind of ppl is always around. YOu never know when someone complain of a loss mail and in fact, he/she is trying he/her's luck even though the item was received... |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
I have used Singpost for my deliveries. Most of the time, they are ok. But do take note during peak periods, e.g. Christmas. Things can get a bit hectic then, I guess. I lost 2 packages during that period, and both were for the same area..hmm...but no proof, also cannot do much.
Always let your customers know if they choose non-registered post, there is this possibility. But I am very pissed with the increase of the reg post to $2.24...they don't even sell 4c stamps...force us to buy 5c...daylight robbery! |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
A question, how do you pacify the customer if their package is lost? Do you resend the package again? I understand that profit margin for certain items can be very little, and by sending it again you are actually making a loss.
Good customer service VS Loss. Which one will you choose? |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
That is true...well for me, I will choose Customer Service. A few dollars loss now could earn me perhaps 10 more customers in future? ;) If a customer is happy with my service, they will recommend to their friends, and so on, so forth.
For my case, if it was a repeat customer, and there is no history of lost packages, I will gladly replace the package. If it is a brand new customer, I will give benefit of doubt and offer a similar item at half my selling price...sort of a give & take. Juz my take lor. :) And also my stuff is not extremely expensive la...if it is those very expensive stuff, I will always insist on registered post. :) |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
yup, finally they replied my email, same thing, said "no sighting of the parcel"~ sigh~

timtam, Good choice man! Kekeke~~~

Re: Singpost inefficient?
I have sent more than a 1000 parcels locally and overseas. SingPost is pretty efficient. So far, only about 2 went missing. But those 2 were going overseas so it may not be SingPost's fault. The personnel at the Post Office are very helpful. They see me everyday and they know exactly what I need.

Re: Singpost inefficient?
Sori forgot to tell you that you need to bubble wrap the jewellery if you do not want to spend more money buying a bubble envelope. It is lighter to send but can still protect the handmade stuff.

Re: Singpost inefficient?
I, too, got back one of the lost ones, but after 3 months travelling to UK and back.
|
Re: Singpost inefficient?
during peak season from Oct to Dec, the tendency of mails getting lost is higher, I think. I live near a Post Office and I see loads of packages for collection. So far, the 2 that was lost was during that period.
|
Re: Singpost inefficient?
One of my local customers claimed that she did not get. Then found out that it was the 1st time she ordered packages so SingPost dropped a card to inform her to collect from Post Office as she was out. She did not know that it was the package and did not collect it till I asked her about it.
|
Re: Singpost inefficient?
Dont pay more. I refused to. What I did at the post office that I freq is that if I am short of 4 cents, then I asked them to print the extra 4cents on the label. So, I pay exactly the amt :O)
|
Re: Singpost inefficient?
haha yea i usually jsut go up to the counter and let the person weigh and charge me. coz i pay by nets, so the amt charged is exact.
use nets la, before they start to charge you more for this service :D i recommend that you use nets at the SAM machine too, coz you wont hafta pay extra like that :laff: |

personally,i would think singpost is slow but not that inefficient
i would always go up to the counter even though queue is madness |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
Singpost post box indicates that mails deposited will be delivered to the recipient the following day.Its good that the receipient received the next day.but for others,it took 2-3days more for no obvious reasons.& People are getting back to me to check their so called *lost parcel* if items do not reach them within 3 days???!& 1 ebay buyer threaten to rate me bad if she do not received the item soon.she email me to asked by when will the item reached her & want a refund if items do not reach her.
Singpost is not efficient especially during festive season... |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
Now I know why is it that sometimes when even using Registered Mail, the mail will get lost or uncollected...
I had just ordered some things from others, wasn't at home for the article to reach my hand, the slip was just a piece of photocopied paper, slipping in from the bottom of my door. This is very bad, because sometimes people might thought that it is just a piece of junk paper(mostly ads), when the slip is dark, without looking at it and throw it out(my father does so). Last time, SingPost had a better service, when the slip is a card, they would usually slipped on the gap of the gate, not from underneath, or just into the letter box. It is worse off for normal mail. I realized that the letters are delivered to each building and store in the building storeroom, which the area isn't really big enough, when the staff that is living and in charge of the area will sort it out by him/herself on the spot and on the floor... It is so easily to misplace 1 or 2 letters without noticing, as there are so many letters just for 1 building... Old HDB flats, they just leave the whole stack of letters on top of the letterbox, where some people would throw ads and others on top of it... mixing all together. I personally think that it will be better if SingPost can come up something better than these, especially on the registered mail part, changing the slip of paper into something better, or leave it in the letter box than just under the door... |
Re: Singpost inefficient?
for me i nv experience this sort of problem with singpost. but try to get customer to go for the registered post. safer
|
Re: Singpost inefficient?
You can actually call the customer service hotline to check. The customer svc operator will usually tell you that they do not keep track of non-registered mail, blah blah blah. Insist, and they will make an effort to contact the respective base office. i had 2 incidence where the package was sitting somewhere in the post office, and would have gone unnoticed, had i not called them to say that my customer have not receive their mail. Their excuse was that they have a lot of annual reports. :confused2: Not sure how that s related to the lack of service
