Try talking to deals websites. They are pretty aggressive in marketing, so if you can get your product/service as part of the deal, you get exposure. You may not profit from your sale via deals website but the main objective is to get the exposure first...

Eg. Groupon, bigdeal.sg, streetdeal...

If you try google search "deals", I'm sure it can link you to a few websites. Will PM you the entire list of deals site I compiled.

You can do forum postings, blog comments, directory submissions, article submissions, social book marking.

Hi AirbrushInc,

Sorry have not been to Pushcartforum for a while as we were doing some business redirections. :)

On your question - I guess things have changed abit in the deals industry. Last year the deals industry was pretty fired up, and things have seemingly slowed down this year with a few big brothers holding the fort - Groupon, deals.com.sg, and a few others. Those smaller players seem to be disappearing slowly.

Yet, there are still people tapping on deals website for exposure. So I shall still list the pros and cons :)

Pros -
Exposure - most deals websites have a great list for direct email marketing, so you get that level of exposure even without having to purchase your own list!

Test market - you can tap on deals website to test market - know what kinds of consumers you are attracting, whether your business sells even with a discount given, etc

Cons -
There can be a potential of success on deals promotions but after that, things die down. You need to ensure you have a followup system within, such that you keep your customers

You also need to ensure you can deliver what you promised on deals website. If you can't deliver, especially when there's mass consumption, you create mistrust for your brand, causing harm instead of good.

Hope this helps!

Anyway, after doing much research in the online selling industry, our stand is that the best marketing effort is still word of mouth. Instead of spending your money on other marketing channels, spend more on your customers. They will spread a good word for you - this is more sustainable for your business. On top of that, with social media, word of mouth marketing becomes so much faster and easier today.

All the best!

I think social networking sites not that good. True. There are lots of people, but in order to get sales, they are not the best place to promote. I was wondering how to get sales also. I promote fashion products, but also find it difficult. There are so many brands online. Nobody will really notice u. Unless, really stand out from them or what. And, mutual trust to a seller is important in order to get sales. No trust, how to buy?

Social networking sites might not be able to directly bring in sales, but are pretty necessary today. Without them, one loses engagement with customers. How frequent do people visit websites these days? The moment they leave your site, you do not know when's the next time they're coming back. If they do not have facebook updates of your site's new products on their walls, it's tough to be any more exposed. So, it is still good to continue to work towards engaging customers via social media. (Be it facebook, twitter, pinterest or any other social media platforms)

Yes, trust is important. When new customers see your existing customers communicate with you via facebook, they tend to be able to trust you more - at least they know people are buying from you, and that you are active online. :)

Not sure if you heard of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Its a on going effort every mth. Yes, there is cost involve, but definately less than what a PPC campaign will cost you.
