Bugis st is not what every retailers consider a good location . Although the crowd is there but mostly student with no spending power. Most of the consumer there expect only $10 for all items, even tourist there also expect super cheap deal. I think the place is flooded with bangkok stk and china retailer .
China retailer sells very very cheaply & thus spoilt the selling value . They don`t have a concept but spies & bring in the same items same as the neighbour.
Can hardly earn profit even though the rental is only $3K to $4k/mnth.

Agree totally with Catherine.
The strategy there is simply to import cheaply
then sell at rock-bottom prices...
You need to turnover the stuff very quickly...
Not a good place to start something unique...
But then again, for some, it works!

I agreed. Actually as a teenager myself, I do shop at bugis with friends.
We usually go there for cheap stuffs and of course, many of us have the concept that we can BARGAIN at bugis street! Indeed we can. Especially for some china goods. So if your goods can be really below $15-$10. Many teenagers will like to buy. Hope this helps. :)

Well, i don't think so myself.
i've open my lingerie shop about 2months ago...
at 1st...it's slow...but it's getting better after 2weeks later...
my product price ranging from S$40+ up....

the place is going to have a major make over...
where the whole place will be aircondition & there will be a link bridge connecting to bugis junction & iluma.

However, i must say that the rental had gone up very high...

i'm paying S$6000+ for a 100sqft shop..

Agreed. Have a shop there too. expanding, so moving to a bigger unit. Level 2's customer still got those don't go for $10 one.

Wow, $6000+ for a 100sf shop  On average, how many pieces of lingeries do you need to sell per day to cover operating costs?

Hi... Juz my 2cent worth, if u happen to eye any shop at level two which is under a guy name Jason Woo dun rent from him.

In 2007 July, we rent a shop C20 @ $2080/mth. Everything was ok untill ard Nov-2008 April raining season, & the roof water leak & floor was flooded & some more it goes into my shop & thus my stock which place on the floor was damage. We contact Jason & he juz keep telling us to mop the flood if WE want. 1st time ok but almost everytime is likdat, we are there to earn income not mopping the floor.

Ok Jason ask us to claim insurance for the stock damage, FYI we send the photos of the Flooded area Feb 2008 to Jason till now no reply from him.
