Nowadays retailer barely survive, I own a boutique in Orchard area situated in a not very popular shopping plaza.Luckily my rental is very cheap that why I still can pay my rental every month but not my pay.
I am wondering how the retailer in Far East Plaza is doing , rental there is rocket high. Most of the customer there are young student no spending power. The shops sell very cheap things like Bugis wondering how they make money.

Hi prettydress.

What are you selling?
You own the retail shop or share with partner?

The biggest earner will be the mall management

Where do you retail at? May i ask for info... Lucky Plaza?

Far East rental is not sky high. It's comparable, but because of the landlord's incompetence to segregrate items selling, thats why it has become saturated and crowded with competitors of the same kind, thus creating a PASAR MALAM in orchard instead....

But there are still unique stores in far east, that is turning heads.

It depends on what you sell.

Fancypocket,
At this bad time you can afford to branch out to PS meaning your business is striving . PS owner is blood sucker you got to pay high rent plus year end they still take from your revenue.
Every renewal of contract you have to revamp your shop.Yesterday I was in PS ( short form for Plaza Singapura)I saw Fontiane having closing down sale even Charles and Keith had move out.
Far East plaza and PS and Centrepoint rental are high and human traffic is good but buying power no good. "HO KUA BOH HO CHIAK" NICE LOOKING BUT NOT NICE TO EAT.

Far East Plaza rental is very high I heard a agent told me basement and 3rd floor near to the bridge that link to Crowne plaza cost $45 to $50 psf.

My shop is in a lousy shopping centre a lot of China mei mei massage girl but rental is dirt cheap .I pay peanut I get monkey lo , but I am blessed with faithfull regulars plus I also sell in Gmarket and doing quite well.I also has a website that bring in customer.
Nowadays you have to do a lot of stunt to bring in customers not like last time sit in the shop customer will come to you faithfully if your stock are nice.
