i am dealing with the exporting for many years, beacuse you are only going to start a small retail ship, so it is import to have the good quality and right price at first. like many of my old customers, they are start with a small business, severals years later, they have lots of retal shops, i think you can start with buying some samples to see if it is worth the value, if there is any other question ,please PM me or send email to

well, with a firm date in mind, you should have done your market studies and all that. So basically you are just looking for goods now? I do import items from Guangzhou, but I do mainly gift items.

Hey anthonyta!

I can provide you with couple rings. Many things available, low prices but my main line of business is the fashionable male apparels. Would you like to consider becoming a licensed distributor for our brand?

Hi mystech, thanks for your advise. So, do you travel to import or place order for shipment?

Re: Starting a New Business

both ways. When working with the ppl in china, if you want the newest stuff, you have to make a trip there. only once you have established a relationship, you can cut down on the trips. They will send photos of what they have. Ultimately, if you order off the web, well, others can do it too.

I am very sick of working for others and I am thinking of starting a small pushcart business. Like to check with any expertise here who can teach me a thing or two. My main queries: 1) Where to get product to sell? 2) How much start up should I prepare? 3) If I bring in product from overseas myself, do I have to pay tax?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me along. Thanks again

1)Depends on what you want to bring in. But alot of stuff are made in china lately. Clothings, I think mainly korea.

2)start up cost depends. But generally you need to plan for at least 6 mths of absolute no income.

3)if you bring in under $400 worth of goods, you can list it as samples, etc.

All these are very straight forward answers. But simplest put, whatever you put in, you should be be prepared to lose whatever money you put in.

Re: Starting a New Business

Dear Steve,

Nobody here will teach you step by step what to do. My talk is about understanding the business in general. Why do i reveal trade secrets where thousands here are hiding it?

Because i see a flaw in the community as i am on the ground myself at the pushcart every single day. There is a serious lack of consumer confidence in pushcart businesses. Alot of people are too proud and stubborn to seek help. Just like you, ask yourself with the type of replies and help you get from here, how much can it benefit you.

If you are unhappy with my talk and find it a total waste of time, i can refund you your $88. But if you think it helps you alot, please let your friends know should they be keen in starting a business.

The STARTING part is always simple, SUSTAINING it is not easy. Alot of people start a business without knowing how to sustain it. I did not ask for help when i began, but at least i take effort to self educate and not rely on others.

Regards.

Actually for retail palce you all can look at toyoutpost...they service not bad and good experience for new start up.

Re: Starting a New Business

Steve, If you do not have any background in business, any such forums or talks will be helpful to you. As sbit has said, no1 can tell you step by step what to do. What can be done is someone telling you roughly what to watch out for and which way to proceed. With that said, I have never attended any such talks and am unsure if it is of any benefit to you.

Meinteel. what are you looking for?

Re: Starting a New Business

i agree, sustaining is much harder then starting :)

Hi sbit_sg,
Are there still slots for your seminar? It's on 30 Oct, Sunday right?

Regards.

sbit_sg 20-10-2011 02:09 PM

Re: Starting a New Business

Hi,

Yes there is still slots. 30/10/11 from 11-2pm..

This seminar consist of topics you have to consider before starting a pushcart business. For those already with a pushcart, certain topics will refresh your memories and change the ways you do things.

There is a flaw in the community, im trying to fix it up and gain more consumer confidence for the community. Im on the ground every other days, when i ask my customers feedback, they always tell me one thing. "One day here, the other day gone" How to keep buying things from them?

There are many hiccups you will encounter or never thought you might encounter. So please take the first step to self educate yourself and not add on weight to the frail community.

Don't mean to be a wet-blanket..... "Many blogshops open recently" but how many survived? Opening is easy but how long can the business lasts? Please plan carefully before you jump in but if you are cash-rich and don't mind dumping a few hundreds or even thousands of $$$ into your new venture, then different story.... go ahead.

For a starter, have you got a budget or at least work out a budget? If you are serious about doing online fashion retail, I suggest you get your website ready and for a start, get your supplies from City Plaza or any local online wholesale suppliers. Why local? Because it is within reach, you can see and touch the clothes and bags, no danger of being con, and also, should there be defects, you can easily go back for exchanges. If it works out, then you can consider travelling overseas to get your own supplies/contacts, and/or even manufacture your own line of clothing.

Please don't try to buy directly from overseas suppliers unless you know them personally or have flown over there and establish contacts.
