How To Start A Pushcart Business
Dear all,
I would like to start a pushcart business. I will bring in my stock from Bangkok. Pls assist me on the following questions: 1) Should I register my business under sole proprietorship? 2) How to bring in the stock? Should I declare GST if value exceed S$400? 3) How to get the push cart? Is it provided by the mall? 4) How to participate any event/ Bazaar? I noted that there will provide with table and chair, is that mean that I can only use that for my set up? or mean that will only be the space that I can use for? 5) How is the payment from customer? Should I need a cash register just directly collect cash from custmer will do? How is the arrangement via net? Thanks for your advise. |

2) How to bring in stock? Shipping/logistics companies. Should you declare? Yes. You cant be bringing in large piles of stocks all the time hoping that the customs won't spot it. Most businessman under-declare the value though. 3) Carts are provided by the respective malls. Contact the mall's leasing department you are interested in. 4) Events/bazaars are conducted by different organisers. You would have to contact them. Terms & conditions vary, check with organiser. Usually you are allocated a certain space and will be limited within it. You can bring whatever you like so long you stick to the limited space. 5) Cash payments is the best, however, nowadays more and more consumers don't bring lots of cash out. That means they would want to pay via nets/credit card for even sums as small as $5. Yes, it is true! Experienced it a couple of times this year already. Do note that nets & the bank (for credit card transaction) will charge you a transaction fee (usually 1%-3% of the transaction). |

Not necessarily. However, if you are adamant about protecting your trademark in Singapore then you should.
