Claiming Government Grants for Your Biz

There are various government grants to help fund your business. You just need to find one that you qualify for.

Having claimed a few of these grants for my business, I can say for sure, they were a huge help in keeping my business going. As such, I was rather surprised to hear business owners saying it's complicated, there are alot of conditions and restrictions and its just not worth the time

Such a shame because I have asked and many of these businesses do indeed qualify.

Straight up I can list one grant, the ICV. I helped a friend seek approval for the 5k grant to build a website and he received his approval and the full amount to build a beautiful site. Not one cent out of pocket! He plans to use his second 5k grant to fund equipment that will improve his biz further.

There is help for businesses, if we qualify, we should not turn it down

You might want to call the ICV hotline for that information as it's constantly being updated

ICV can no longer be used to claim for website development. Previously, you can still claim for it as part of an Integrated Solution coming under the Customer Relationship and Loyalty Management category but now even that loophole has been plugged since last month.

No wonder the IT vendor refused to help us design my business partner's business website when we told him we want to claim the full costs using the ICV Voucher in November. If we had known the rules were going to be changed, we would have done it last year. :(

Spring Singapore has been tweaking the rules quite abit. You can still claim under PIC but I'm sure you're aware of the more stringent requirements under PIC.

If you find local web designer charges above your budget, try the Indian IT companies. Up to 50% cheaper, you buy the wordpress templates and they edit the site and upload content according to your specifications. I'm sure you can do it yourself though but it can be a headache if you want to change some of the fixed elements that came with the site design.

One word of caution, you will spend lots of time on emails back and forth before you're happy with the site. They are very prompt and efficient with their replies and work but may not always understand what you want EXACTLY:laff: English is not a problem but trying to say you want your site to look a certain way via email is not the easiest thing in the world
