Idea for everyone to clear stocks

Hihi..

does anyone know if to organise some form of car boot sales, is it legal in Singapore? Is there any party we needa contact?

Wanna organise one together?

Actually I was thinking if to minimise everyone's rental cost,
we can actually have flyers distributed around the area then we can either set up a car boot sales in some carpark..

alternatively, we can do something like this:

(1) Look for someone's residence or maybe rent a room or event hall at a CC (example bedok) OR organise an area for car boot sales
(2) give our flyers (into mailboxes) at tat district (bedok) telling people there is a bazaar going on with many items going for clearance
(3) and on the day itself, give out flyers around the area?

It is alittle troublesome to coordinate but I guess it would be quite fun for everyone? And hope in this way, we are able to clear most items? and there is always a target market? (by district)..

Do let me know how you feel about it..
I guess for rental + marketing, one would have to come up with about $50..
also, for this to realise, i guess we would need to have about 10~20 people who are interested.. =)
the more people, the less the cost to organise such an event~~

Hi Hi! I am certainly interested too! Thought it will be fun!:) However, for car boot sales, that means we will have to have our own car? or can the items be laid out on the floor or the "carpark" and make it really bazaar style??

Not too sure if this is legal, but I guess a permit will certainly need to be obtained as it is a carpark we will be using and if the event is successful and a crowd is ensured, then there will certainly be some concern from the authorities...

Ever explored CC too, but feel that the crowd does not seem to be there... But if there are suitable locations, I would certainly be keen!:)

For location like the CC for an example, the crowds are more for older people.
You rarely see teenagers or youths looking around.
Maybe it's the timing...Cos for weekends, they are open from morn to aft only.

Yes, I would be keen to take part too provided the permit is obtained for this type of bazaar market.

Please call me at [Phone Number Removed] once it is more concrete. Thanks :)

hihi everyone!! hmMmm.. maybe for those interested, maybe we can all submit ideas for this to work out? is it alright? i was thinking of car boot but I think it might not be very legal in Singapore and gaining permission might be a slow process..

I think the CCs might be a better choice? But anyone has anyone in mind first? Anyone has any contacts on CCs? Maybe if you have, you can let us know the charges?

For flyer distribution, would you guys rather pay for someone to do it? Or would you rather do it urself?

I stay in pasir ris.. what about you guys?

Re: Idea for everyone to clear stocks

Hi Hi!:)

I think for CCs, we might have to go for those function halls?? The cost would be about $700 - $1000 plus.

Have a friend working in the CC, and she was suggesting that if we were to organize our own bazaars, not necessary to take the hall, but perhaps at the corridor instead as it will probably be cheaper as they can work out something like how much for rental of table and chairs etc. If we really keen to take up, she mentioned that we will need to submit a proposal for their discussion and approval.:)

However, my feel is that if we really keen on the CC, best to hold it when it coincides with some events, perhaps such as those Count Down Parties, National Day celebration etc, where it will really draw crowds. Otherwise, for their minor events, it might not be so good, even if we were to distribute our own flyers as, hehehe, afterall, how often do you think you will go to a CC?? (I don't go unless my fren is at that CC...):P

I stay in Jurong!:)

Hihi!! I'm interested in the idea too!

Actually I was thinking (not sure if it's possible) to rent a space at some shopping malls.
I live in Simei and sometimes the first level of East Point Mall will have sort of like a bazaar thingy. I went to ask at the info counter and the person told me it's only available for the stall owners of east point mall. But if they open it to the public then we'll be able to set up our stalls there!
I don't know who to contact though.

IMM has done it, before they renovate. So I'm pretty sure it's pretty legal. Start with CC first or you can start at a small time shopping malls like Bukit Panjang Plaza

Re: Idea for everyone to clear stocks

Actually, I have this idea of organising some event at CC eartier too after I asked about the push cart rental either at shoppings or event stall, Its too high for new setup like myself. And I realize if business is poor, the only party that still earn money is the event organiser.
And ...recently I tried the lot 1 pasar Malam. I thought I can change the whole concept of ONLY CHEAP THINGS Available at pasar Malam by Selling my range of Sterling Silver Gem Stones Jewellery and Four Leave Clovers Crystal/Gem Stones Bracelet _ of couse some cheaper range of accessories and Natural Stone necklace, bracelet to cover the cost also.
Though My stall should be quite special and unique in the whole Bazzar place, my effort alone with this very 1st try cannot change the fact and the crowd is simple not the right crowds.

Actually, now I am thinking, If we can gather about 5 members who are interested and book a bigger place with bigger frontage.
(My current one stall is 3m X 3m, till 17 June, but surrounded by a clothings start and a $1++ children stationary and accessories)
My current stall is about $50 on avg for 16 days.:

we can design and layout the place properly, and rent those proper "Wagon" for display and showcase our various products, the total rental cost should be much cheaper and we can reduce the required man power to ment the stall as well. and Change the whole concept of Pasar Malem. Any people supportive of this ideas.:juggle:

People have already stereotype Pasar Malam as cheap cheap stuff, so it will really be very difficult to change mindset and get people to buy more higher range products coz people would rather buy them from shopping malls instead. Afterall, Pasar Malam quite famous for chiong stuff, so even if they are genuine, no one will pay those prices for it at Pasar Malams...

Recently, I have come across a few "pte sales" event, housed at some shophouses at Holland Village area. Not too sure the success of such events, but essentially, a few stores were brought together to do a 1 day sorta pte sales, with each of them inviting their own members and the organizer spreading the word around...

This could be something worth exploring perhaps?:) Somewhere classier, more exclusive, and maybe only guests who RSVP so that attendance is confirmed?

hmm..I feel that if you guys hold a bazzar at those CCs the turnout may not be good? Cuz seldom do people goes to CC, even if there is, it's very rare and depending on your target group too. Unless there's an event there, if not I not too optimistic about the turnout.:(

Hi, fyi, I had tried clearing my stock (selling bottled bird's nest) at Bt Panjang Blk 257 area last weekend. Rental is $50/half day. This place usually have crowd b4 noon. They have recently renovated the floor and decided to put up awning to shelter the sun. Therefore, not sure is there increase in rental cost after this month. But this place really crowded from Wednesday onwards. So if anyone interested, we can share the cost and I have "lobang" to rent a space.

PM me if anyone interested. cheers!!

Re: Idea for everyone to clear stocks

I just remembered. A couple of moths ago, Senja CC held a flea market which was supposed to be held on last Saturday of the every month at the amphitheatre near Bukit Panjang Plaza. Nobody applied for that cause most probably the reason no shelter and the amphitheatre can't be seen from bukit panjang Plaza without anybody walking past it. I proposed that we tried calling Senja CC and asked if there's any possibilities that we can create a theme flea market of our own every last weekend of the month.

And if that goes well, we can have our own flea market business and go around Singapore.

Hi all, i am interested too!

I tried renting the car boots flea when SPC organise it at IMM open carpark. The response was pretty good, but only SPC member can rent it.
I guess that is per yearly event.
I'm sure we will be able to try to talk to the admin at IMM to check for the rental of open carpark. Not necessary to place the selling items at the car, i had the clothes rack and some boxes to display them when i was selling at that time. The rental per day is $40 and i rented it on sat and sun.

As for CC, depending on the locations, as youngsters don't go there to 'shop'.
I think 'pte sales' event sounds pretty cool.
There are openings for Zouk Flea now, those who are interested can also try that out. Not for me thou, cos the space are real small.

Date: 3rd September 2007

Time: 12.30pm

This would be my first boot sales with a buyer.
I hope she would ask her colleagues to come to view the items too..
I would need one more accompanying car with accessories.
Would anyone be interested?
