Contractor to Renovate Small F&B Outlet

Hi everyone,
We are planning to open a small cafe (around 400 sqrf) and looking for a cheap reliable contractor to do a small renovation for the shop.
I am new to this design and innovating stuff. So, I hope you guys can give me some advice and information.
Can we do the design works by ourselves and only hire a contractor to do a bit of renovating to save cost?
Can anyone advice me what is the cost-effective way to do all this renovating stuff?

dun wish to share too much info within this site, especially contractor who often advertised they are specialist.
