Help! Import Questions
Hi all!
Have some queries on imports. I'm bringing in some merchandises from China. Supplier is sending samples to me via ChinaPost Air Mail. The supplier is proposing to send the remaining stocks via ChinaPost Air Mail as well. I can top up if I want to go with DHL, EMS or FedEx. I am paying more than $400 for these stocks. Do I have to pay tax? If so, how can I proceed to declare the amount? I am also in talks with another supplier who proposed to ship the items to me. Which option do I take? FOB or CIF? Whichever option I take, what are the documents and procedures do I have to do if I decide to go with the shipping option? TIA :thanx: |
Re: Help! Import Questions
Wondering how much are you paying for your Air freight now?
I usually import more than $400 worth of stuff, but my forwarding agent will declare it lower than $400 so I don't have to pay tax. Suggest you to do the same. :) Sounds like you're liaising with various suppliers, might as well go for to forwarding agent. They will hold and combine your goods for shipping together. |
Re: Help! Import Questions
Do you still need to pay tax on trade samples? I always thought trade samples are exempted from tax. So if it is less than $400, no need to pay GST?

Re: Help! Import Questions
If the goods are less than SGD400, there's NO Need to pay for GST.
