Pushcart Rental Rates Summary September 2009
 
Below is the summary of the pushcart rental rates survey conducted in September 2009.

Rental rates for pushcarts in Singapore remain largely intact during the 6 months since the last survey conducted in Mar 2009. The launch of new malls during the period vis. Tampines One, Orchard Central and Iluma and the deluge of retail space they brought to the market during the period probably curtailed any rate increase.

Overall, rental rates remain largely in the range of $2,000 to $4,000 per month.

The following shopping malls did not make any adjustments to pushcart rental rates in the past 6 months:

The following shopping malls were added to the list during the course of the survey:

  • Tampines One
Rental rates should remain sticky going forward and we do not expect any sharp increases in rental even with an economic recovery materialising in 1Q2010. This is because the supply of commercial retail space will be boosted by the opening of the Integrated Resorts as well new and refurbished malls in 2010. Furthermore, rental rates of $5000 per month or more may turn off retailers who will seek longer term shop space at lower rates.
