it is too high to rent pushcart or shop lots

I have only very small capital...really too risky to rent pushcart or shop..

its very high rental. one person cant cope unless u have low cost n high profit margin. but nowadays, its a risk to bring in BIG bulk to enjoy low cost. so have to find 2-3 interested ppl to share the cost.

But then with the high cost, push carts at most shopping malls are fully booked too!!!! :confused2:

Its ridiculously high, I heard bugis shopping pushcart is calling for 5-6k for such ridiculously small area space to put so little merchandise?! I think whoever agrees to rent has been taken a ride for. It's really paying sky high price making profit so lean, furthermore the management there seem to be pushing for commitment upfront 3 months and claim that their carts are sought after. At the end, entrepreneur suffer and many work > 12 hrs mending their own stalls without rest & no pay, no $ to employ helper. Am I right?

I totally agree with you.. Its just too high,,, i made enquiries to rent a shop space at bugis street, its 4 to 6k/m and 3 months deposit + half month agent fees. It's just too much... Went down to see how good the market there, pushcarts there doest seem to be doing good business too..

Really wonder how they can survive.

The winner will always be the owner/management.

No matter what, we are at the mercy of mall management and landlords...

short-term is to advertise your site.

long-term is to learn more about SEO.

Under mall management study, the pushcart is an extra income for the mall. The space is small, hence the rental is high. If you rent a shop front instead, it will be much cheaper.

It is something like bulk purchase. U purchase more space, you get cheaper pricing. For anchor tenant like kinokuniya, Takashimaya, HMV and etc, they always get huge space in the mall. Thus, it is cheaper for them. It will not be possible to charge the same price per squre feet as compared to normal tenant or pushcart.

Another reason will be, pushcart's location in the mall. For e.g. Bugis. The pushcart is located between 2 lines of shops. Floor layout will be free form. 4 sides of the pushcart can be seen and visited by customers. It encourages customers to explore the 4 sides of the stores to see the products and etc. But after all, it depends on the customers. Whether they want to buy the products or not.

The common complaints against mall is rental. Rental is high. It discourage spotential entrepurnuer to start their own businesses. Even though Government encourages people to start their own business, the killing part is always rental.

This linked to many new factors. Such as getting goods from China with low quality, marking up prices and customers feel the pinch and etc.

Pls comment me if I am wrong. Thank. :yippee:

Hi earthlyscent. Rmb me? =)) :yippee: wow u actually rented a pushcart or smth?

Frankly speaking, it has to depend on your location too. If you are selling aroma, location will be CBD. =D Yet, at CBD area, rental is high. Operating hours is from 8-7pm that kind. Reason is because, after 7pm, ppl go home liaox. =D

Re: Do you think pushcart rental rates at most major shopping malls are too high?

haha true but they are maximising floor space, their main income are shop front , pushcarts are used to attract shoppers to make the mall interesting thus they are actually helping to advertise the uniqueness of the mall.. afterall each mall carries abt the same brand of store front.. pushcart to me is alternative shopping for consumers to make it an interesting experience. otherwise to buy a giodarno from wisma or centrepoint is the same haha.. they should reduce rental...also i heard their rules are pretty strict too... just a different view, no offence to anyone.
