Turf City Shops Get Extension on Eviction Notice
Jun 27, 2011
CommercialGuru.com.sg About 160 retail shops at the Turf City mall have been given six more months to vacate the site, which is state property. According to a report by The Straits Times, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has set a 29 February 2012 deadline for the retail shops to vacate its site off Dunearn Road. The retail mall, which is managed by Turf City developer Singapore Agro Agricultural (SAA), comprises a Giant hypermarket, restaurants and car dealerships. The shops were set up in 2001, on the back of a three-year lease which was renewable for up to nine years. The report said that before the lease expired in August 2010, the SAA sought a lease extension to provide its sub-tenants ample time to relocate. The SLA granted them a one year lease extension, which will expire in August this year. It noted that the latest six-month lease extension until February 2012 will be the final one. |
