CommericalGuru.com.sg Property and construction firm Low Keng Huat has won a S$66.3 million contract from Perennial Real Estate Group to perform major renovation of Chinatown Point. Working on alterations of and additions to the retail-cum-office building, Low Keng Huat will relocate the parking lots in basements one and two to the retail podium’s third to sixth levels. Set for completion by 15 November 2012, the project will also connect Chinatown Point to Chinatown MRT station through the basement. “Chinatown Point will look quite different,” said Lee Yoon Moi, Low Keng Huat Chief Operating Officer. This project will add to two other construction deals the firm is involved in, one of which is the S$62.5 million contract to refurbish an office building at 6 Battery Road. The other construction project is the building of about 630 apartment units under the Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS), which is the first property development project without any partners. With three construction projects and other real estate ventures, Low Keng Huat is still seeking to expand its portfolio. “We are still looking to go into more construction projects,” said Chin Yeok Yuen, the company’s Chief Financial Officer. |
