Greetings eCommerce players,
This is an oft-asked question and I wish to settle it once and for all
Many enterprising individuals and small businesses are engaged in eCommerce activities through blogshops sited as sub-domains in Blogger or Wordpress. While this may work for low volume, small catalogue eShops where orders are received via email and payments are made through internet banking transfers, ATM transfers or even COD (Cash On Delivery), at some point, it will become untenable to manage and it will hamper your growth.
Even discounting the need for a full fledged shopping cart system to help with the efficient management of your eCommerce business, just the simple reason of having your own branded domain will be sufficient justification for the move from Blogger or Wordress sub domain to your own domain name.
Now because the nature of the hosting provided by Blogger (owned by Google) is different from Wordpress, which has open source content management system (CMS) available for download and self hosting, the options available for moving to your own domain are also different.
I will elaborate in detail these options in subsequent postings.
In the mean time, keep on selling!
