if i can do my own design, but just need a server to host my website and get a domain name, how much does it usually cost?

It really depends on what kinda features and e-commerce script that you are going to have.

If your budget is not much, you can start using oscommerce + add ons, they are free of charge. Then you can get budget hosting for under $20 monthly.

Again, having your online shopping on bad hosting neighbourhood and budget hosting, may cause 2 serious issues:

1. it will hurt your organic search result
2. since most script may require you to set read/write/execute permissions to public, users from the same server may write something to this folder.

Paid e-commerce script can start as low as usd$300-500. Then, you can start adding add-on to enhance the features.

Customized unique design can cost you around usd$2000 while add-on may add another usd$2000

If you plan to get better result in search engine, you may also need to do SEO which may cost usd$3000-10000 yearly.

It really depends on your budget.

i got a web hosting and domain name for about SGD70. i got a friend to do my webbie cause it doesn't have all the pushcart stuff. Its just a e-mail/contact thing..
