Advertising/ Increasing Web Traffic
 

Hi All,

Could anybody share their experiences on how to increase the web traffic i.e. number of visitors on your website? Advertising to the right crowd is a challenge as well. I've just set up my online shop and would be appreciate to receive some advices or experiences.

1) online advertising using google adwords or yahoo panama. Depends on your keywords. It will normally cost you around 20-40 cents per click. However, in the long run, this is not a good solution.

2) search engine optimization. This is a process to get your targeted keywords to be as high as possible on most major search engines (google, yahoo, bing, msn and aol). If you have $$ to spend, it will be much easier to increase and maintain your website page rank, incoming links, etc. Depending on your keywords competitiveness, it may cost you $0 to 5 digits to get listed high up there in the search page. webceo is a good tool to monitor your traffic rank.

Hi there fancypocket!

Thanks for the advice. I dropped the idea of adwords as like you mentioned, it would work well on the basis of being a short term solution. I have done the adding of my url and am currenlty working my way with the search engine optimization. I am still open to other avenues!!

2sweet2, yes, organic search is the best solution.

Some general pointers:
1. Name all items even your images or directories, do not use cryptic naming like TU4565, use "hello_kitty_pink_purse_small".
2. Cross-link within your website.
3. Consistently update your website.

You may wana advertise your website at those popular blog, but they will charge a certain fee for it. This will create an instant high traffic to your website for a few days but whether will increase your sales got to depend on your product oso =D

hi zhenda, i try to PM you but it seem that you cant accept PM..not sure if we can share the blog address here..so far i just started out trying 3 blog, and i tink peggy blog is not bad, her readers response to my website is so far the best out of the 3 blog but hers is the most expensive oso lor, will keep trying out other blog oso =D and if you guys have experience good blog for advertise, share with me oso ^^

actually, one of the strategies is in fact to make yourself known in the blogosphere or cyberspace by using the same nick as your store and post relevant and useful advice! (like this!)

did just a google search on le chic boutique
and realised there are almost 3-5 online boutiques with the same name!
eg. http://www .lechicboutique.co.uk
http://www .leboutiquechic.com
http://www .lechicshop.com

again, my advice to those starting a new online store
is to make sure your .com is not taken in the first place...
and to register a .com.

I am a full-time working mum with 2 young gals and set up a blogshop lately. I struggled and only done up a basic one cos I am not very IT sarvy too.

Can anyone help to give comments, ways to improve it and also increase the traffic flow?

First off, you got to get your url right...
it's not meowjocloset.blogshop.com
but meowjocloset.blogspot.com

Other than that, the site looks good!

A blogshop is hosted free...
whereas a .com is paid hosting
A free blogshop may work in the short run
but for long-term, a .com is more viable...

There are loads of information online as to how you can increase your web rankings.

But for me... collaboration still works best. You could try to hook up with someone in a similar field to do cross selling. Or maybe work with bloggers to run a contest or promo.

There are many creative ways to get your name out there.

Do some affiliate marketing, placing online banner, exchange link , link building, SEO , participate in blog post, forum post, submit article, submit url to directory , submit url to search engine, submit press realease , participate in social bookmarking and social network .
All are they way to bring traffic to your website.

And buying database to do a blast too.

On a separate note, did anyone have much success with EDM blast campaign?

I think through forums is the best/cheapest way to build up your site traffic. although it may not be the BEST method. But its definitely 0 cost involved. But have to participate in the forums chit chat often though :D

Hi ,

The facebook is a good avenue to do your business too.
Saw a lot of young ones setting up blogshops with facebook pages.

They sell to one another and update one another thru facebook.
