Small Quantity
 

Hi guys,
I want to go into online biz. I searched for suppliers online and saw that most of them though quoted as allowing small quantity purchase, the minimum order is like huge to me. Sometimes its like 2000 pieces or 500 pieces.

As I have no experience at all, I am wondering how can we but smaller quantities cause I am not sure how far my biz can go and if I purchase too many, I may not be able to sell them all.:roll:

The smaller the order, the higher the costs and thus the lower the profit margin. If you intend to engage in online "sprees" like the tons of blogshops there with little risks, be prepared to earn very little per sale as well as having to spend time emailing/calling up the suppliers very often.

Thks. Yeah kind of expected but just wondering if those suppliers do allow negotiation though

Some suppliers will allow, others won't. Frankly speaking, the number of suppliers who will allow you to take small orders are far and few. Furthermore, you have to be ready to take in tough terms.

Assuming designs are what you wanted, how many pieces are you planning to get when you say "smaller quantities"?

Most of those I meet, when they want small qty, its usually like 5-8 pcs per design, if that. so from a supplier pov, really not worth it. The place I had formerly work at tried doing some consignment with a few who just started out, but frankly, they had very little business ethics, so they ceased the practise too. Selling online is a very attractive idea as it seems like there is low cost and effort, but the successful seller actually puts in alot of thoughts and effort.
