Default What Are the Consignment Trends Out There?

Hi,

Need a little help here.

I am selling ladies pouches and like to go for consignment. My intention is to build volume. But as a beginner, I do not know :

1) do I control the final selling price?

2) what is the common commission rate out there with reference to the selling price?

3) if the store owner really push my products equally as he/she does for his/her core products?

4) if payment is prompt?

I greatly appreciate kind souls out there to share your experience with me, what to avoid, what to focus. Please share your other encounters (be it good or bad ones) with me.

Many thanks

hi,
only my 2 cents..
1/2.ask urself wat you wan?you wan stock o you wan $$?bcos if you wan to go for consignment, you cant control too much of $$, normally people go for 30/70, or 40/60, you wan your thing go fast, lower your consigment price, let d people have more profit, they have more "heart" to sell your products.
3. no need to worry about them, they wan to take your products of course they r really ready to protect themselve 1st, your products must b a "supplement" for them, since they space, have extra stuff, sales already applied, y not??!
4.normally people will ask % of $ the products as a deposit, refund after whole mission.
Explain to them if they really wan to make $$, go for cash, ggv them more survivoble price, one hand you can get your cash back faster, people can sell your stuff, double win, y not??but always remember, you mus have a very gd price when you import by urself, if not, you only do for nothing.
dis is really my 2 cents suggestion, mayb others have much more better way other than me, correct me if i am wrong, really need other voice too..

Get a push cart at Change Alley or lease from SMRT an event space at Raffles Xchange.

I think it's it's 40% /60%... but do not expect store owner to push product.

I used to do consignment, but I find it a waste of my time... sometimes a week they sell SGD 12, SGD 20... what is the point. wast my time to go replenish items too.

If you can to clear.. get a space yourself to clear..... it more effective... just my 2 cents worth

Hi, totally agreed to Cecelia. Many people don't see it that way they just want to benefit themslv when they consign the goods. They never thought about rentals, sales staff and other expenses that the consignor has to come out with. Some people consign their goods and in the mean time they are also selling it themslv at a not so high price. they give $5 to the consignor and they themsleves sell @ $8.00. You don't expect people to earn just a $3.00. So when you want to consign your things out. You must be very fair and put yourslv in their shoes. When they can profit more they will have the heart to push out your things and what's more you get quick sales n fast cash.

Hi,

I wish to sell my handicraft to stall/cart owners.

I like to crochet in my free time and had 30 to 40 pcs of coin purse/card holder etc.

Anyone interested wants to buy?

Thanks
