Very Few Events to run

Seems like a quiet month for bazaar, like no events going on and can hardly book a decent place to sell my products.
I am thinking of organising my own event. Any suggestions to locations i can book cheap so everyone here can join hands and organise a happening event to promote our own products and also to do publicity and awareness.

Will hotel be a good choice as weather will not affect us but high rental cost.

If out door, where you think will be a good place to held bazaar???

feedback to me cause i really wan to run a event on my own instead of depending on lobangs to find a place and sell my stuff

Re: Very Few Events to run

hotels may be expensive... would depend on the price/type of products u want to sell too, eg recently Club21 had their sales at Hilton

otherwise, may have to opt for cheaper hotels, and they may be quite inconvenient

outdoor - i did thought of checking with Far East Organisation if can rent the outdoor space at Far East Square. lots of tourists visiting the area, especially in weekends.

also saw another post earlier that someone thot of organising an indoor-fair at Alexandra Technopark area (the fair was later cancelled).

Re: Very Few Events to run

Where is the location you talking about at Far East Square??? Maybe i go check it out and survey.
And if you have the contacts to the management, maybe can pass to me. We can go in and negotiate with them together.

Any other suggestions for location?

Re: Very Few Events to run

for a cheaper option, you can always check with your neighbourhood CCs. they do have bazaars, just less frequent. But the rates should be much cheaper, as i usually get my tables there for less than $20. Count me in if you do organise any events~! :)

Re: Very Few Events to run

hi thanks for the CC flea market event update but i seriously do not consider that as a good option for my products as i sell higher end handmade jewelry. Got a company and products image issue here. But i do not mind holding food festival for my other business in such location.

Check with my bf who is an ex event organiser. He suggested Bugis... Can also hold it in someone place...

Count me in if u r orgainising:laff:

christinewsy 13-05-2008 06:08 PM

Re: Very Few Events to run

I also think that Bugis would be good but where is a good place to hold??? The grass patch @ tan qwee lan? Bugis junction is out of question as the slots are all full already and too high! we might have to pay $100/day for a 1mX1m table.

For house invitation is not a bad idea but must include food and drinks to attract people with i can provided and sponsor as my mum is a homemade pastry supplier and my bf owns a coffeeshop. But my tiny HDB will be out of question. Anyway to go about it?

Re: Very Few Events to run

Oh...I've been looking at the rentals of the pushcarts, particularly in Bugis. Rentals are just too high. Was there on last Saturday. The traffic is good but sadly you get more browers then buyers. Weekdays are the worst. I hope these pushcart management companies could relook into their rental scheme. To commit a min of 2 months' rental is quite a hefty sum for small "players" like us especially if you need to get a prime space. Besides, although it's good to share with other vendors, I find it rather inconvenient because you have to re-display your items at every occasion.

Re: Very Few Events to run

Hi, thanks for the info tiger but we are not looking into pushcarts now. But if i am not wrong, according to my previous enquiry they are asking for a 10%-15% of your total sales cut for bugis junction pushcart.

Maybe you help lookout and ask around for event bazaar location or even a good place to held carnival.....

i'm refering to the outdoor area in between "marquee"/oosters (not sure if i spelt it correctly) and ya kun kaya toast, think it's "metal gate". there is usually a crowd during weekday lunch time. weekend may draw tourists, depending on tourist buses.

there's another outdoor area near zhou restaurant (opposite the previous fitness first). but seldom got people walk there, and besides, there's construction going on at the roads facing that area.

i dun have the contact of the management. but it's under far east square is under far east organisation.

Re: Very Few Events to run

hi christinewsy, organising an event at your place is not a bad idea because you set the environment up to suit your products! As you have space issues, maybe you can have it held at a friend's place. But you must first have a pool of loyal customers who would be willing to make the trip down to your place, otherwise, only a handful of curious people would go. Even free food won't attract that many, unless it's good stuff like bakerzin's cakes, sakae sushi, etc :P

Re: Very Few Events to run

thanks for the davise, and i am aware of such situation whereby customers may not turn up even though you invited them, thus i am not considering to held at my own place. i stay with my parents as well, to set the environment to suit my product is not quite possible. As my sis already sold her condo due to high property market price.
After much consideration i decide to do the commerical space event instead.

pokerface 08-06-2008 02:57 PM

Re: Very Few Events to run

actually i would agree with christinewsy to do commercial-space-event instead.

if u holding such fairs at ur place -- may have to cater food and drinks, clean up ur place after the fair.. and may even have customers stealing from ur house! :S

Re: Very Few Events to run

Personally, i have a place to let out or experiment,
it's in Tampines Blk 280, ST 22
Since Flea is at the rage, we could do like a flea market but it's inside a shop
and not outdoor.......
I'm open to empty or set aside space and racks to try out...

the only challenge is how to get the crowd to this area........
so all the participants or members here can help to blow this event up!!
and what kind of products are we goin to have....

The residents here are mostly malays.....
Several primary schs nearby.....

Lets see what we can do......

base on the crowd you mention it might be difficult, but can always give it a try. But be prepared that you might have to sell cheaper range items like $15 and below. and countless of flyer and promotion will be needed. if you wan to give it a go, pm me. we can discuss the details.

Re: Very Few Events to run

im tired of running for bazaars and sometimes they are not cheap. Some like $40 per day, if you multiple by 30 days, it will come up to $1200. So now I'm looking for people to share retail space, not so tiring and dont have to depend on event organisers. I went to the Flea-tique bazaar last week, good crowd but very hot, sweat like mad. but good thing abt bazaar is u get to keep changing locations

christinewsy 03-07-2008 01:22 PM

Re: Very Few Events to run

I am getting a shop and running bazaar at the same time. Everyone has got their own ways of doing their business. Thus i hope this thread is for people to come up with suggestions for good bazaar location so that i can get organiser to organise one. Not for someone who has absolute no interest. Thanks

thegifthaven 03-07-2008 09:55 PM

Re: Very Few Events to run

in that case, how about trying tampines linkway? i did it before, the traffic very good but dun know how come now no more already. i can give u the previous contact i have but not sure whether the person is still working on bazaars. or if anyone has bungalow, can do at the garden. my friend's aunt did that before also.

christinewsy 03-07-2008 10:04 PM

Re: Very Few Events to run

That's a very good idea of doing at bunglow, but we also discover the issue of our mailing list customers turn up rate and also who to rent the space from. Thus the idea not very feasible.

The tampines linkway should be good. I have vendors doing pasar malam at tampines MRT feedback that the buying power is good, but i dun know why the linkway is not as good. Maybe you pass me contact and i liase with the previous organiser.
