The Retail Market is Super Quiet or What?
Am I the only one experiencing this unusual quietness? The retail market seems pretty quiet. There are plenty of window-shoppers and website browsers but seems like not many are buying.
I am trying to think of some of the possible reasons.  - Economy is weak? Not enough money in circulation? - Too many shopping malls? Too many online shops? - GSS i.e. shoppers been waiting for GSS since 2months ago so minimal spending post CNY??? - Cheap airfares sending shoppers overseas every other month? - Too many of the same products? Shoppers do not need to go to your shop or your website, they can easily find the same product next door?? What other possible reasons are there?  To survive, some shops engage in price wars. This unfortunately send prices nose-diving to the detriment of other sellers. Those who cannot survive eventually close down and clear their stores sending prices even lower. It's survival of the fittest... you there...hang on! |

Where are you retailing? Ever since CNY went by, the retail market has been pretty weak.
This period march-june period has always been relatively weak all along but the weak economy made it worst. Besides that, many malls have sprang up over the past year which make competitive extremely intensive. Time for retailers to tighten our belts and prepare to cut costs. |

This year is tough....worst compared to last 2 yrs
 But rental is still going up, while sales is diving down  Quote:

Agreed. Even big names are closing off. I believe the influx of new malls in the many towns didn't help to lower rental. Many shops are opening and then closing. Looks like everyone just have to tighten our belts meanwhile.

Usually the month of June and July are very quiet,everybody bring their children for holiday plus shoppng.
