Passion for Retail and F&B ??
hi all.
i am new to this industry but have a very exciting project to tell you all about. we are in the process to setup an indigo house in chinatown, we will retail new japanese and european premium denim brands and accessories and also have a restaurant linked to the store - a shopping - restaurant experience the restaurant will be on the ground floor and the retail on the second floor of our 4 story shophouse. ideas/concepts are all firmly in place, we now need to connect with some passionate chefs/restaurant managers/retail managers or a combination of all who are willing to INVEST IN THEIR OWN FUTURE - with us if you would like to know more then please don't hesitate to contact us and we can show you the concept in much more detail or if you can point me in the right direction for better visibility i would be very much appreciative thanks to all paul |

Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
I would say your main problem is the location... haji lane, ppl sure flock there. but china town....

Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
which part of Chinatown? If it's located at Club Street/Ann Siang area where there are many shophouses-turned-trendy bars/restaurants/galleries, I would think this popular high-end area would fit in well with your premium European and Jap Denim Brands, then I guess as long as you have the funds or the financial support, with all your burning passion and ideas/concepts all firmly in place, it's worth a try even though the concept of retail + F&B is not new.
Now if u ask me for the right direction for better visibility, I would say hold for now. Just visit the shopping malls, chat with the bosses/sales staff, observe the market trends, u will realize that it is strangely quiet out there on the retail scene. I think F&B may still be doing ok. Actually it's really easy.... wherever u plan to open your indigo house, just go down to that area EVERY DAY and observe the crowd. When u want to do something of such scale, some research work cannot be avoided. Do your maths and u will know if it is feasible at all.... |
Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
xoxoxo, seems like only we 2 are really chatting nowadays. :d
to his point, I was around that area for a project a few weeks back and frankly, I would rate that area as afternoon, after work crowd only. If you are doing only F&B, you might stand a chance, but demin jeans.... Well, I guess if your marketing is very strong, it might be possible. Apple proved that. |

Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
I think people would still go to a stand alone shop since Chinatown isnt like a far away place not isnt easy to go to.
The point is if it is attractive enough. If the demins sold there are even what smiliar is design and prices (competitive to other major brands widely available in malls nearby) and the lack of selection will prove difficult to attract such customers. If you have a huge variety of designs, then that would be a different story together. =) |
Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
:D what about offering complimentary meals for customers who buy your premium denims? :yippee:

Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
xoxoxo, its actually already being done. not to that extent of a full meal though. There is a company that actually serves drinks and food like samosa, buns, to whomever patronise their company, regardless of purchase.

Re: Passion for Retail and F&B ??
:D Mystech, Paulcowell said it's Jap n European premium denim brands so I was hoping for some high quality Jap delicacies like Wagyu beef for meals :laff:
