Consignment Related Questions

Hi,

I am interested in having my goods consigned to different shops, but i have no experience and would love to hear from anyone who has any experience at all.

Would like to find out:

1) The average or estimated % the retailer takes a cut
2) How to go about with consignment
3) Any other useful info

1. 35% - 40% of selling price
2. For every delivery of goods, prepare a consignment note for them to sign
3. Call them at regular intervals to check how yr stuff is moving
try to get permission to do some marketing, eg. Putting up a poster

How soon will we be able to get the money for the stuffs we sold?

Normally, NET14-30 days. However, big companies may do NET60-90 days.

Better to have all agreed terms on black and white for them to signed and keep a copy for yourself. Otherwise, when new stuff takes over, the new stuff may act blur like what happen to one of my friend. My friend didn't have a signed agreement, and the new stuff refuse to honour what was agreed before.

1 more thing to note which most people may overlook, do check with the store who will bare the cost of your goods are stolen.

Dont forget to put statement that they have to display your products within x number of days after you have given them the items.
