Complete Novice in The Singapore Retailing Scene

Hi everyone, I am new here. and totally new to the retail industry in Singapore. I have a dream to start a particular retail shop in Singapore, lets just say it's a toys and games retail shop. Thus, I have particular few questions to consult all the seniors that have step foot before me.

1) Is there anywhere that I can locate a few solid small business models that I can use for reference to construct my own?
2) Can any one suggest the optimum method to conduct market research to get a rough gauge of my target consumers, given that I have pretty much 0 capital to start with.
3) Which one would be better?
- Look for partners and pool our capital together or
- Borrow from the bank?
