Reputation Points is a feature of the forum for members to give other members points for their contribution through postings and to validate that these postings are truthful. It is similar to eBay's rating system I guess, so that when you see someone with high reputation points, you have higher confidence in dealing with him/her.

Everybody starts off with 10 points, equivalent to the 1 small square green dot you see on each members profile on the left of the posting, like this ->
