Opening Spa

i am interested to open spa can anyone please help me how to start, or is it good business in Singapore or malaysia, don'tknow want to open in Singapore or JB, or is it profitable to open spa. is it expensive, actully i have no knowledge of spa, but i am so interested in spa bus becos i am very stress fulperson and very stressful at work too, so intend to open own spa

Of all business please do not go into spa business unless you have few hundred thousand to spare.Lately you can see many spa and nail spa closed shop and left the customer stranded.

I totally agree.....please think carefully before going into Spa Business. It's one thing to like going to Spa and another to operate it as business

Before I go into retail business I was operating a salon doing facial and body treatment service like a small spa.
For 3 years business does not grow even newpapers feature my services does not help my business because my salon was in a old shoppg centre.

Customers sign one package of 10 sections,got to give them 1 or 2 sectons free to entice them to sign package.
Most customer use their package of 12 sections for 2 years,tell me how to make money?

Thanks for the replies, appreciated it so much, i am really loving the idea, but i don't understand how come some spa operator (owners) keep on saying they r million dolars women successful just by being spa owner, how come they can earn so much.

Do we really nid alot of money to start this business? No chance is it?

for the replies, appreciated it. but i don't understand how come so many spa owners declared they r successful spa owner earning millions of dollars. I thought of opening a jawanese spa with massage, selling some spa products...

just a small shop, do you think it cost so much?

ok, first off, i agree with dingdong totally...
the reason for starting a spa is not quite correct...
just because you are stressful, you want to start a spa...
starting a business is even MORE STRESSFUL!

Of late, the beauty sector including spa is taking a huge hit
because of the economic recession
(which is still going on for most retailers)
don't believe in official statistics too much...

from a business point of view,
you should start something you are interested in
AND profitable...

You have to research much more...
ask around... read more

Then, ask yourself again if you are ready to take the plunge...
