Question Opinion: Republic Poly Pushcart Outside Victoria NLB

Dear Forummers,

I need your feedback. Has anyone ever rent a pushcart at National Library @ Victoria Street?

I have been doing my biz online and occasionally at flea markets. I am thinking of taking a pushcart at NLB on regular basis every weekends. My purpose is to reach to the community and gaining some publicity for my biz. I'm doing handmade and imported fashion accessories.

How is the crowd there? Is it better during the weekdays or weekends?
Will appreciate your input and suggestions.

Thank you.
Cheers!

Hi Dirah

Yes I have sell fashion accessories and educational product there before.

During school holiday the crowd is slightly better during the weekdays.

If you want to try, you may book only weekends (the lib allow vendors to book Sat/Sun), the crowd is better compared to weekday (non-school holiday).

Hope info is useful.

All the best
Jasmine

i have done bazaar there before. It is rather competitive to get the spaces, so i doubt you can get it on a regular basis. when i was there, the next available slot was 1 month later!

Hello Jasmin & beadsandends,

Thank you very much for sharing. Appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

I saw RP website and saw some periods have been booked for the polytechnic usage. I have seen many unutilised pushcarts before. But that was only during the weekdays. Weekends, I have not been there before. Will check it out on weekends too.

Btw, how were your sales when you were there? What are the targeted age group at that area?

Thanks.

You are most welcome Dirah,

The puscharts belong to RP, they give priority to students. But hey, if your age is 34 and below, you enjoy their student's rate for booking the pushcarts, not sure if the condition still exist. Go check it out.

I make some money, though not alot when I sell online education program to Parents and students at the pushcart. Because I don't need to do stocking All I need is some brochures, my notebook and internnect connection to do online demo. So operating cost is low.

But I don't make money selling fashion accessories May be it is the wrong product at the wrong place or perhaps I did not stay long enough to see the result.

You see quite a lot of working class people near the Hans Cafe during lunch time, you must find ways and mean to lure these customers to visit your cart during or after lunch, but don't irritate them too much while they are eating.

Some time you meet teachers or students who walk in and out of the library, these group of people are usually from the nearby Univesities. Or once a while you see a group of guided tourist visiting the library, but usually they don't buy, may be because they have no time as they follow the tour guide.

After all, trial and error is part of the retailing proecess

All the best
